Green Life Farm Plan Green Life Farm wants to help
change the future of neglected children in St. Mary by teaching them to
live self-sufficiently and competitively in a global market where natural
resource consumption is limited. We believe that we have a plan that will
not only train up our children to be successful and restore St. Mary as
the capital of agriculture, but also become an eco-tourism business for
our region.
Here's how it works... If a farmer is farming at least
a quarter of an acre, and wants to become part of the "Green Life Farm"
label, they would apply through a local micro-loan program. A team of experts
qualified in slow-drip irrigation, as well as organic farming, would visit
the farmer and conduct what we call an 'informal interview'. We want our
farmers to understand that this is a change in how they currently farm,
and not just a season for growing something new.
Once we determine they are Green Life Farm candidates, we proceed with teaching
them the basics of growing naturally without toxins, using a continual drip
system that will insure they won't face drought again. This in itself is
something that most St. Mary farmers have desired but have not been able
to visualize due to the economic restraints.

Year-Round Farming
We are expanding the farmers' knowledge regarding which types of vegetables can grow in our climate 12 months per year. Most of our farmers are excited about sharing this wealth of information with their neighbors and also the public schools and other organizations in the area.
